Spirit U Scholarships FAQ

Who is eligible for a scholarship?
Any potential student attendee with a demonstrated financial need.

Do I need a teacher recommendation?
YES. We ask that your band director supply a brief letter supporting your request for a scholarship.

Use the link on the Spirit of Atlanta website to access scholarship application:  www.spiritdrumcorps.org/scholarship

What is the deadline?
All applications must be submitted by May 1st, 2019

What should be included with the application?
In addition to your completed the application form, we require a supporting letter from your band director.  You should have it in a PDF or doc/docx format and the ability to upload it during the application process.

Who will review the applications?
In order to protect privacy, the Spirit U Coordinator and a member of the Spirit of Atlanta Executive Board Governance Committee will be the only individuals reviewing the scholarship applications.

How many scholarships will be awarded?
We will be funding up to 6 partial or complete scholarships

What factors determine who receives the scholarship(s)?
The first criteria will be demonstrated financial need
The second criteria will be the student’s potential benefit from attending the camp (as supported by the letter from their band director)

How and when will recipients be notified?
We will notify scholarship recipients via e-mail on or before May 15th, 2019

What costs are covered by the scholarship?
Scholarships will be applied against the registration fee for Spirit U Camp. Scholarship monies may not be used for incidental expenses or travel expenses to or from the camp.
