Jenna Chinburg

Jenna established herself in DCI when she joined the Boston Crusaders as their Head Athletic Trainer in 2014. She assisted in creating the medical program in collaboration with Dr. Vivien Tucker. During the summers of 2014, 2015, and 2016, she completed full tours with the corps and managed an Assistant Athletic Trainer, athletic training interns, and a volunteer nurse.  Additionally in 2016, Jenna served as an Independent Health and Wellness Consultant where she assisted multiple drum corps implement medical policies and procedures, recruit/hire medical staff, and provide on-site injury evaluation for touring athletic trainers.

Her ongoing passion for medical care in the performing arts influenced her master’s thesis on the patient-clinician relationship in drum corps. Her work was awarded a grant from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. She also presented the project at the Performing Arts Medicine Association International Symposium last summer in New York City. She is currently working on two additional studies to continue research within drum corps. Aside from drum corps, Jenna is a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Menlo College in Atherton, CA. She graduates with her master’s degree in Kinesiology from San Jose State University in May 2017.

Jenna says that she is “excited for this opportunity to develop the medical program for the Spirit family. I know that taking care of the members’ health and wellness is a significant priority for Atlanta. I am happy I will be able to further that cause in a meaningful way.”
