Spirit of Atlanta and Friends of Spirit, Inc. are proud to announce Jeff Pearson will serve as the new Executive Director/CEO, effective immediately. Chris Moore and Dave Coheley will continue in their current roles of Corps Director and Assistant Corps Director, and  Pearson will continue in his role as the Director of Operations for the remainder of the season.

“Over the last three years, this organization has made a remarkable turnaround,” Pearson says. “I am excited to have the opportunity to work with Chris Moore and the Board of Directors as we continue to improve the organization and build a strong foundation to help move us into future.”

Jeff has worked with the corps since 2016 as the Director of Operations. His background includes serving as the Corps Director of the Boston Crusaders, a role he took on in 2016. He joined the Crusaders in 2014 and served as Operations Manager in 2015. During the 2006, 2007, and 2008 seasons, Pearson served as both Program Manager and A Corps Director for Santa Clara Vanguard, of Santa Clara, CA. In this role, he oversaw multiple performing groups including Vanguard, Vanguard Cadets, and Vanguard Winterguard. Aside from drum corps, Pearson’s background is both as an HR professional and entrepreneur. He was the owner/operator of five Papa Murphy’s Pizza locations in Northern California. Since joining Spirit, Pearson has helped Spirit of Atlanta thrive operationally.

Shane George, President of the Board of Directors for Friends of Spirit, spoke of how easy of a decision it was for the board to promote Jeff Pearson to the Executive Director position.  “Jeff has spent the past few years working closely with the corps as the Operational Director which gave us an inside look at his work ethic, persistence and stamina making this an easy choice. Jeff thinks strategically but implements tactically, and is truly passionate about the Organization’s mission. He has high financial and business acumen and will help this organization take the next step.”

Chris Moore, Corps Director, who has worked closely with Pearson since he joined the staff in 2016, echoes the Board’s positivity. “I am very excited to see Jeff Pearson appointed Executive Director. I have had the opportunity to work with Jeff the last year and a half and know he has the talent, business skills, and institutional knowledge to propel the organization forward through diverse and meaningful initiatives.”
