Audition for 2017 Spirit of Atlanta

auditionsSpirit of Atlanta is excited to announce audition dates and locations for positions in all sections of the 2017 corps.  All auditions will take place during the month of December 2016, and for the first time Spirit will be holding satellite auditions in locations outside of the Atlanta area.

The first and most important of these events will be a full, 3-day Audition Camp held December 2-4 in Atlanta, GA.  This event will be the primary audition event for all sections of the corps including brass, battery percussion, front ensemble, colorguard and conductors.   Overnight housing will be provided at the camp location, and meals provided.  The cost for this event is $175. As a special offer, if you register before November 1st you will save $25!

Two separate Audition Events will be held Saturday, December 10th – in Nashville, TN and Orlando, FL.  These will be single-day auditions, with both ensemble and individual auditions taking place throughout the day.  The Nashville Audition Event will include brass, battery percussion, and front ensemble auditions only.  In Orlando, we will be auditioning brass, battery percussion, front ensemble , and colorguard.  The cost for these events is $100.

The final Audition Event will be in Atlanta, GA Saturday December 17th.  This is also a single-day audition, open to brass, battery percussion, front ensemble, and conductors.  The cost for this event is $125, which includes lunch provided by the corps.

According to Spirit of Atlanta Director Chris Moore, it is strongly encouraged that all prospective members attend the December 3rd Audition Camp.  A full weekend camp, according to Moore, “provides the greatest educational experience for potential members and gives our staff a better opportunity to evaluate potential members, and a large percentage of positions for the 2017 corps will be determined by the auditions that take place that weekend.”  Attending a second, single-day event will also greatly increase the chance to earn a position in the corps, as the additional instruction and evaluation received will be an important benefit to those auditioning.  Moore says “We want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to be a part of Spirit of Atlanta for 2017.   Having these additional audition locations and dates gives us great opportunity to see and evaluate an even bigger sample of the very talented people who want to audition.”  Moore added, “we understand the audition process for drum corps can be expensive.  By branching out to new areas, we’re hopeful this will give prospective members a chance to be evaluated twice by our staff while reducing travel costs for those auditioning.”
